USCIS Expands New Online FOIA System

Yesterday USCIS announced phase two of the Freedom of Information Act Immigration Records System (FIRST). Phase two of the system, which USCIS originally announced on May 30, 2018, will allow users to track their FOIA requests online and receive documents digitally. Previously, FOIA requestors received documents on a CD with the documents on it through the mail.

Until the new system is fully deployed, FOIA requestors must continue to submit their FOIA requests by mail, fax, or e-mail.
