USCIS Announces Online FOIA Request System

Today USCIS announced the launch of the Freedom of Information Act Immigration Records System ("FIRST"). Once fully implemented, the system will allow users to submit FOIA requests and receive FOIA response documents online, as well as track their requests and receive e-mail notifications once documents are uploaded. USCIS is phasing in the implementation of the system, starting with users who have pending immigration court dates. In its announcement, USCIS said it will expand the system to all FOIA requesters "in the coming months".
